Substitution
My extra curricular activities in the school are Athletics and voluntary substitution. I was substituting a class today, they were third year students. I gave them a lesson on Early Christian Ireland, because I was filling in for their History teacher. I couldn't believe the attitude of the students. They were mischievious and cheeky and remained talking after correction. I had to put a number of students standing for talking and I gave many students a different exercise to do from the rest of class, as advised by my supervisor when students misbehave. I put two students standing for threatening each other in my class. I couldnt believe the disrespect they had for each other....
I changed activities a number of times to draw their attention onto the lesson. I had prepared acetates on the subject content, however the projector wouldnt work for me, fortunately I had a hand-out prepared on Croagh Patrick. I tried to have an open discussion on Croagh Patrick, but the class got too noisy and I had to stop the discussion and I asked them to answer questions that I had written on the white board.
Yesterday, I substituted a First Year. I revised the Sea with them, focusing on the Processes of Wave Erosion, Headland and Bays, Cliffs and Wave-Cut Platforms and Sea-stacks. I really enjoyed the class, because they were attentive and I felt they learnt alot in the Lesson.
